Book Review : Love is an Algorithm by Laura Brooke Robson
Love is an Alogoritm is about Eve, a musician who trusts emotion and instinct, and Danny, a tech developer obsessed with optimizing love through a dating app he built and developed called Pattern, featuring an AI bot named Bug. They both have complicated relationships with their parents and with the amount of AI they should allow into their lives.
My review: 4.5 stars, finally a romance that kept me smiling. The banter was witty and the NYC setting was fun. I loved Eve and Danny as the main characters and loved the exploration of the effect AI is having in our work and, more specifically, in our relationships.
The only storyline I didn’t love was the one with Danny and his mom, I can’t imagine this author has children (or perhaps the author is on the younger side of life 😊) as all the parent character portrayals felt a little lacking in their depth/humanity. Definitely left me wanting to read more of the author’s work!
