Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

I just finished this memoir and am giving it all the heart eyes. 😻

It’s a delicate balance between hope and grief - beautifully and brutally honest. The author tells her story - growing up Korean American in an Oregon college town, having a lovely yet tumultuous relationship with her mother, moving back home after years away to take care of her mother when she is dying of cancer. The food descriptions and, ultimately, the concept that food is a way we can show our love for one another, well, chef’s kiss! I also apprecatied the way that Michelle wrote candidly about how she and her partner both had nonlinear education and career paths. They both accepted multiple jobs and worked hard while also focusing on their more creative and passion pursuits.

Content Warning: cancer and hospice/end of life care
