Review : Malibu Rising
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid (✰✰✰)
The pros: I loved the writing. I loved the timeline flip. The author flips between one day - the current day hour by hour while the famous CA surfer Riva siblings set up for their famous end of summer party at their beach house - and the past - the story of their abusive, rockstar dad and their loving but alcoholic mother. I loved all the 80s music and pop culture references. I loved the siblings - Nina and Kit especially.
The cons: The cheating, rock star father who abandons his wife and kids trope is…. done? I’m over it anyway! We want better men - in real life and as book characters. :)
