Book Review :: Yerba Buena
After swearing off romances for the rest of the year i just finished… a romance?!!
This book was not of the meet-cute variety but had oh so much substance! It is a beautiful story that winds back and forth through the life timelines of Sara, a runaway who arrived in LA aged 16 and homeless, and Emile, who had a more stable home life, but appears to be searching for the right fit for her life after growing up with a sister with addiction issues. The timeline spans the girls teens to late twenties.
Both girls struggle with their identities. Both girls continue pressing forward despite all the challenges thrown their way. There is trauma and grief. There is love and hope. Five stars from me!
Trigger warnings for drug and achohol abuse as well as sexual violence. Lgbtq+ affirming.
