May 2023 :: Added to my TBR
Wow! I added (digitally to my Goodreads TBR) so many books in May. 🤦♀️ 😆
Looking back, here are my TOP FIVE priority adds:
The Last Animal by Ramona Ausubel (Contemporary Fiction, published April 2023): Teenage sisters Eve and Vera never imagined their summer vacation would be spent in the Arctic, tagging along on their mother’s scientific expedition. But there’s a lot about their lives lately that hasn’t been going as planned, and truth be told, their single mother might not be so happy either.

The Collected Regrets of Clover by Mikki Brammer (Contemporary Fiction, published May 2023): From the day she watched her kindergarten teacher drop dead during a dramatic telling of Peter Rabbit, Clover Brooks has felt a stronger connection with the dying than she has with the living. After the beloved grandfather who raised her dies alone while she is traveling, Clover becomes a death doula in New York City, dedicating her life to ushering people peacefully through their end-of-life process.

Unexpecting by Jen Bailey (Young Adult, Coming of Age, LGBTQ+, published August 2023): Ben is going to be a father. Something his mother was not expecting after he came out as gay and she certainly wasn't expecting that he would want to raise the baby as a single father. But together they come up with a plan to prepare Ben for fatherhood and fight for his rights.

Honey, Baby, Mine by Laura Dern and Diane Ladd (Memoir, published April 2023): Laura Dern and Diane Ladd always had a close relationship, but the stakes were raised when Diane developed a sudden life-threatening illness. Diane's doctor prescribed long walks to build back her lung capacity. The exertion was challenging, and Laura soon learned the best way to distract her mom was to get her talking and telling stories.
