Book Review :: The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur
The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur (☆ ☆ ☆ ☆)
The book is divided into four sections - wilting, falling, rooting, rising, and blooming and definitely takes you on a journey of growth and healing. I will note a trigger warning for sexual assault. There are also some poems on the author’s relationship with her mother that I found lovely.
One example:
this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt
fall
root
rise
in order to bloom.
