I’m not sure how a fast-paced, dystopian fantasy read about pirates can still feel cozy, but this one did! Kat is a likable and strong woman with a history of trauma throughout her childhood and young adulthood. Despite (because of?) this, she finds her way and builds a beautiful life filled with found family. I love the depictions of Kat as both a daughter and a mother; her love is fierce and protective. Looking forward to Book #2 and hoping Kat gets some of the revenge she is due.
